When I travel I like to know where there are trails in the areas I will be in. TrailLink outdoor maps help me find trails that suit my desired distance and surface depending on what I will use them for. It is nice that there are photos posted from other users that even help out even more since I can see what I will get to see on my journey!! Love this app and have used it for years.

Great app for finding trails while traveling. Definitely worth the memory real estate on your phone.
  • Requires location always on

The app doesn’t work without location services enabled. If location services for this app are disabled, you get an entry screen that implies you can search without location services by giving you two button options: CHANGE SETTINGS (location services) or SEARCH (e.g., with zip code). It turns out if you try to search by hitting the SEARCH button, it eventually brings you back to this first screen without actually searching. This is counterintuitive and different than any other app that typically offers these two options. Another reviewer commented on the same issue. I spoke with the developer who assures me this is NOT a glitch in the app. Apparently you MUST share your location to gain ANY functionality. You can’t explore any new trails without it. Not ideal but I like the app enough that I will live with it. Wish I could explore new trails without always sharing my location, a standard adopted by many such apps. Hope the developer takes note.

Location services are on and I’m entering my zip code. App keeps asking me to change my settings or enter my location 🙄
