I love noom. I hate getting on the scale but I needed the accountability. There’s a sense of satisfaction checking off the boxes.
  • An absolute scam!

After giving this a try for five days, I decided it wasn’t right for me. I went through the cancellation process as outlined on their website well before the end of my free trial. The Noom coach didn’t reply to me for three days which was then after I had been charged. Then customer support was absolutely no help in correcting their error. All in all, this felt like a total scam. I’m extremely disappointed in the app and the customer support team behind it.
  • Love the education throughout

The tracking module is excellent, easy to use and keeps me honest. The NOOM Nerds educational tips are excellent. I knew some from my years of different programs but there are so many more I have learned about metabolism, satiety, bursts of exercise, leaving 5 bites on your plate (that one is really hard).
  • Not worth the money

Not worth the $99. Very unpleased with my experience.
  • Poor cancellation & refund policy

I just don’t trust and cannot support business with a company that intentionally puts obstacles in way of canceling and refunding. The hard way, I learned... 1.) you can’t cancel in apple subscriptions 2.) you have to have the app to cancel. 3.) they will not notify you a reminder before they auto renew your account. 4.) they will tell you they can’t refund, even if it’s day 15. And know - I did not use the service or coaching at any point in the 14 day window, so there has been no marginal cost of service provided that the ‘non-refundable charge’ is covering. It’s just a scam to make extra money from people who have busy lives.
  • You should try this

I love love this app/program! Well-written articles, lots of support and accountability (which I really needed!). The fee is worth it to change your life!!

I tried the 14 day trial to see how this would work. I was impressed at first but as I started logging food I found it increasingly difficult to enter things not in their database. Their recipes frequently did not have the correct picture associated with it or when scanning a bar code I got completely different food. I get how the psych stuff might work for some people. As someone with a psychology background it felt like a cheap grab for money (I.e. the general population doesn’t understand it so let’s charge them). Also the add frequently talks about people being able to lose weight and “eat what they want”. To me it felt more like shaming, the color code ended up feeling more like punishment intended to trick you into eating water based vegetables (I.e. not calorie dense). I ended the subscription when they went over restaurant food. Yes I get that you should eat something that is “healthier at a restaurant” especially if you go out a lot. I do not go out a lot because of allergies, I pick foods out that I cannot make at home. Being told “don’t eat chicken wings” is not helpful. I also eat at locally owned restaurants and chains... as in it’s not in your database. Bottom line is it is too expensive. I cannot afford a gym membership. I am not going to buy precut fruit/vegetables (not economically responsible). TL;DR Psychology tricks as a way to make people pay more.

Noom is not a diet but a lifestyle change. The program shows you ways to be healthier and to change how you view and think about food. Great program!!!
  • Getting frustrated

I literally spent an hour trying to figure out why I can’t log food that’s not in the database.it will act as if I can log and even add calories but nothing to submit. I’ve missed logging meals because of this roadblock. Same as scanner, doesn’t connect with camera and just keeps the blue screen. These features are too limited for having to pay. I need this fixed or I’ll have to stop the program get my money back since a major part is logging food but I can’t do that!!!
  • Beware!!! They renew automatically!

Noom auto renews and once you are charged they will not refund (even partially) your subscription fee. I was letting mine lapse because I don’t have time right now and they just charged me for 4 more months (another $96), even though I haven’t used it in over a month. I’m contacting the better business bureau also. This should be clearly stated upfront.
