Please allow Excel to be bought as a one-time purchase and not force the Office 365 subscription

The Mac version of Excel is the single pain point I have in using OSX. If you do any serious work inside of this application, the windows version is your only - and I mean only - option.
  • What a piece of Garbage

After the the latest IOS update, Microsofts old 2011 products are out of date. I was force to 'subscribe' to their crappy software and pay 69.99 a year. After 3 attempts to install it, it never worked. SURPRISE all the files are easy to open in Apples 'Pages' and 'Numbers' programs for FREE!! Don't buy this crap. Delete your microsoft programs that don't even work and be done with them for ever. So happy with Apple.

I purchased and have used Excel 2011 for years. Now I can't access any of my documents unless I pay for Office 365? This seems unbelievable.

  • If you have the older Microsoft Office installed, don't download this

I have the older vesian of complet Microsoft Office installed on my computer. Once I downloaded these new aps, it took me to Microsoft Cloud and I couldn't use my older Microsoft. I had to restore the back up from my external backup hard drive.
  • don't do this

The whole purpose of this is to get you to buy Microsoft Office. When you open it, you can buy Microsoft Office, or get a read only version. This is really just an ad, nothing more.
  • Breaking existing Excel install

If you already have Excel installed with the up-front price and then you install this then it will irrevocably delete your existing Excel. Then if you try to download from Microsoft (burried under the "Try Now" button) I get a "cookies disabled" error and cannot download it. I understand that Apple might prevent Microsoft from mentioning what the customer needs to do in this situation. If that is the case then Microsoft should explicitly update the app to say "Apple will not allow us to put the link here" to avoid a low review score.

I have been using office on Mac since the 2007 version. i updated to office 2011, then to Office 365. Ever since these have been in the App Store, its no longer a pain to update! The old microsoft update box is no longer annoying popup! Thanks for all the great updates, and it SUPPORTS Dark Mode! Great Job Microsoft!
