  • Breaking existing Excel install

    By Fulldecent
If you already have Excel install with the up-front price and then you install this then it will irrevocably delete your existing Excel. Then if you try to download from Microsoft (burried under the "Try Now" button) I get a "cookies disabled" error and cannot download it.
  • Worst install experience ever

The installer became very confused when I tried to install excel. If it didn't have a feature that I need to evaluate I would have already given up. Here is what I think the steps are: The first screen tells you to sign up for office 365. OK so I do this. Then it subscribes through the apple store. OK so I do this. Then it tells me to use my email to sign in. OK so I do this. Then it says I already have an account. I don't remember an account so I try my password again. This time it tells me that my password is not a valid account name, but there is a link telling me to request my account name. OK so I do this. Then for security reasons, it sends me only part of my account name. I look at this, and the only thing I can think of is maybe it is asking for my github account name. Now it says it will send an email or a text message to whoever is using my github account name and it is not me. (YIKES) Then I think I will cancel the subscription. While I am canceling my subscription, I see a message from OneDrive. So I think that I should give this another chance. Then I launch excel again. This is the same screen I saw the first time. Again, the only thing I can do is sign up for a subscription. So I do (again). Then I get a dialog telling me I already have a subscription, do I want to manage it. So I say yes I want to manage my subscription. Guess what - the only thing I can do is cancel my subscription. YIKES! So then - I think maybe I should just log in directly through microsoft. Again I get the message that I can't log in with my email, but I can log in using github! OH THE IRONY! The saga is not done. I am venting. If I get this thing working I will bump it up by 1 star. Otherwise I will give up.

  • too many flaws

    By freedom4u
I used to run Office 2011 for Mac. It was working perfectly. Excel 365 does work generally but comes with so many flaws and reduced functionality compared to the older versions. It's incredible that I now have to pay annually for that. Often it's small things but things that made it easy to work with. Just a few examples: Sometimes the mousepointer highlights the cell above. The Quick Access Toolbar is far worse than the Windows version. Many important commands cannot be added, such as font color. It cannot be put in a different bar like in Windows. Its icons are very hard to read in the green frame bar. And there is a lot more wrong. Maybe I'll add more later.
  • MS Excel wants to use your confidential information stored….

Excel is a powerful program that anyone can use. Features are amazing. Can't Microsoft or Apple figure out how to have this popup box go away? It’s agony trying to close excel and the box won’t close without a password I don’t know, didn’t know I needed. I can click “Deny, Allow", or whatever, and the box pops right back up. Really helpful today in a meeting with my boss. Such professionalism marred by the elephant on my screen...

  • Microsoft is horrible at Mac apps

    By jcknight19
This is the slowest and ugliest App I've ever seen in the App Store. Hopefully this is the last time I'm tricked into giving Office for Mac another shot. Never again.

I own the license to this software and created docs on my pc for years. I downloaded the app to my iphone where I continued to access my files via icloud until one day, inadvertently not locking my screen, managed to delete the excel app with phone in my pocket. Once I discovered the app had been deleted, I attempted to access my files ithat were saved in the cloud... they were gone, they were ALL GONE!! Files I had created on my pc and saved in the cloud were deleted when the app on my phone was deleted. I bought the rights to use the excel program on my pc, I have the right to save files created there in the cloud. How does Microsoft have the right to delete a years worth of work simply because i deleted their crappy app?!? OUTRAGEOUS! and the tech support will do nothing but consume hours and hours of your time... USELESS!
