  • 👍 features, 👎 value, 👎 service

    By Ngr33n
This app could be the best. There is no other budgeting app like it. The problem is, the execution is not great: core features like envelope funding are completely broken, sync functionality is (apparently) fragile and error-prone. And on top of that, customer service is nice enough when speaking to you but the company is extremely slow to fix critical issues and doesn't follow up with status or anything. (Or maybe they do and I just wouldn't know because they *haven't fixed anything*.) Frankly I don't know why we're still paying for this; I am rapidly running out of reasons and patience.
  • Had trouble adding an account

    By Scott Seward
I was very interested in this app until I spent an hour trying to add my chase account to the app. Each time I tried it failed, giving no reason why it failed to add my account.
  • Good concept if it worked

Mvelopes worked great for a couple of days; then it stopped downloading my transactions from my bank. I emailed customer service and did receive a prompt answer; but they wanted me to send them a ton of information demonstrating the problem. Sorry but I subscribed in the first place to save time over manually entering everything in a spreadsheet. But compared with dealing with the glitches; the spreadsheet is faster. If they ever work out the bugs it’ll be great.
  • Used to be worth every penny

I have been an Mvelopes subscriber for about a year and a half and I absolutely loved the app until Mvelopes 5 came out earlier this year. It has basically been unusable since then. The first thing I noticed is that I started getting duplicate transactions coming in from my bank. You used to be able to delete these but this functionality was removed in Mvelopes 5. On two separate occasions I worked with customer service to delete these duplicates for me but not only did duplicate transactions continue, the duplicates that were already deleted came back! Up until this began happening I had a morning routine of allocating everything in the transaction inbox but these duplicates made it so I could not clear out the inbox without speaking to customer service, which led to me ignoring the inbox all together. Another issue is that my app no longer stayed logged in for more than a day or so. I always use the unread badges to see how many transactions I need to allocate but with Mvelopes 5, I would need to open the app and login again in order to see my transactions. Even after deleting the app and reinstalling, this behavior continued. And finally, even once I did login, the only way to get the unread badge to appear was to open settings and toggle it off and on. And even then, it would not update as I allocated transactions without toggling it again, which ultimately would leave me with a badge that counted the duplicate transactions described above...until it logged me out and the badge disappeared entirely. So needless to say, Mvelopes 5 transformed an amazing product into a frustrating waste of time and money. I have canceled my account and I honestly can't understand how they have any customers at all after months of this experience. Even if they managed to fix all of these issues, after this engineering disaster, I have to question how secure our data is in this system to begin with. @Mvelopes It is always preferable to delay a release until it is ready. I would have continued paying for the previous version for years to come.
  • 30 days before I switch to Mint!

I’ve been a customer of yours for over two years and can’t believe how buggy Mvelopes 5 is. List of complaints: - Fund on the Fly no longer tracks your monthly allocations (how much have I already put in that envelope this month? No clue!) - Logged out daily even though I set up PIN or Touch ID - can’t adjust dates for funding/transactions - pressing any button appears to make a web service call now... why?? Syncing is great, but cmon guys. The way I’ve used this app is completely broken to the point of nearly useless with Mvelopes 5. FIX IT!!!
  • Duplicated transaction mess, updates lose budgeting, and no customer service

    By GenHenderson
I’ve been using Mvelopes for over 4 years in a row. Even made the mistake of paying for the product now for nearly two years. With this last update to mv5, I’ve got duplicate transactions with no way of deleting the duplicates so I can’t balance, and in trying to create the funding plan for June, all the monthly budgeting numbers and notes that I’ve been using for 4 years are gone, and to top it all off, they won’t let me call customer service, cause they want me to give them more of my money to upgrade. So I email them with my issues, and they say them will respond within 2 business days; well, guess what, we’re ending business day 3 without so much as a email or phone call in response. Don’t pass for this crap and frustration. I certainly won’t be renewing.
  • Hopefully you don’t need support

    By jkilgore1
I love the app, I’ve been with the company for years. I wasn’t happy when they discontinued the free version, but I was happy to pay for the service if I had to. Recently, the app has continually crashed and required me to sign in almost every time I use it. I’ve also tried using Fund on the Fly option, and it never funds my Mvelopes. I contacted support via email twice and only received an automated response. I submitted a review through the application, they stated they would have someone contact me. After a few days, I still haven’t heard a status about this. I contacted support via chat, it connected instantly. They stated they were working on it, but did not have an ETA on a resolution.
  • Good Concept but Terrible App

    By hannah93475
While my husband and I love the purpose of Mvelopes, the actual app is trash since getting an update. It is so frustrating to use, I almost never open it anymore. The app constantly forgets my login information, so that while it is supposed to allow me to use a pin or my fingerprint, i must re-enter all my information whenever I want to check our budget. I haven’t yet been able to successfully add pending transactions without some sort of glitch on the app, nor have I been able to find our envelopes; I must use my computer for these functions, whereas before we could so all this seamlessly on the app. We loved using Mvelopes before this app update, but now we hate having anything to do with this app.
  • I love this tool!

    By KevinDANGERStone
I’ll be the first to say that I love Mvelopes. My wife and I have been using it to stay on top of our budget for almost 3 years now. But the update to this app had been terrible for us. We almost always have an issue with transactions not loading, unable to login, unable to find envelopes from the app, etc. We will continue to use the app but it has become unreliable. Logging in on a computer has become the way we have to take care of most actions.
  • Not great

    By Binkle02
I love the app but hate the fact that I am constantly logged out. I set up my face id and pin but almost every time I open the app I am asked to set it back up. This gets frustrating after a while. The reason I have the app on my phone is to quickly pull my envelopes up to see what I have. Having to do this defeats the purpose.
