The app blocks most of the public networks I have access to (e.g., hotels, airports). Function “ignore network” doesn’t work.

As many have stated here before, having the app on the phone creates many connection woes. For instance it will try to connect you to to a hotel network and never actually connect you without giving an indication of an issue. Once you realize the app is the problem, it is supposed to give you an option to forget the network for a period of time but I have found this option presents itself about a third of the time. If you accidentally hit the wrong option, you never get the pop-up back. There needs to be a hard setting where these features can be turned off. The current only way to make this happen is to delete the app from the device.

Terrible app we have tried all over the world vis-a-vie our Hilton Amex providing this “benefit”. It rarely works and many times with Hilton hotels actually inhibits wifi so we are deleting and not recommending anyone use this worthless app.

This app makes some WiFi networks unusable. You can’t tell it’s happening but the WiFi will work once you delete this app. This is a horrible bug and I would never have this app on my phone ever again.

I was unable to connect to hotel or airline WiFi because the Boingo app prevents the iPhone from displaying the portal authentication page. I first tried to reset network settings without success. Finally uninstalling this app allowed me to connect properly.
  • Battery Killer

I put this app on my brand new iPad Pro and haven’t really used it much, but I was a little taken by surprise when I noticed my brand new iPad battery seemed to drain more than I expected it. Even when my iPad would sit idle, locked/sleep mode, I would wake it up after a while and see a significant battery depletion. I finally used the built-in iOS battery monitor in settings and saw that this app was the largest battery hog. As mentioned, I rarely used the app or had it in the “recently used” app switcher but saw that it was running in the background for 145 hours over the last 10 days (145/240 hours) - that’s crazy! I have had the most up to date version of the app on my iPad, so it couldn’t be due to an outdated app. Either way, I had no choice but to delete it after seeing that. Here’s to hoping this fixes my brand new iPad battery drainage.

  • You won’t be able to connect to many networks when this app is on your phone

You won’t be able to connect to many networks when this app is on your iPhone X. Your phone will show you are connected to the public WiFi network when you go to settings. But the WiFi sign will not show on the top right hand corner. And you won’t have internet access. The solution: delete the Bingo app from your phone, and you’ll be able to connect right away. :) So yeah, this app deserves ZERO stars. It does the exact opposite of what it’s supposed to do.
