First off I’m a paid member. It has come to my attention you are leaving jobs open that are not available. I have applied to so many jobs and I can’t even get a response from people. Not 1 single interview. I had 1 response to let me know the potential client went with someone else not even giving me a chance and she was supposedly a brand new member looking for help. Everyone else just ignores the fact that an actual human being has applied for the job they are looking to fill and they think leaving myself and others hanging in the wind is okay. It’s not okay. I need a job and when Care dot com is leaving jobs open that are not it’s very very frustrating. Pretty sure you will not be getting another $45 out of me when my time is up. This has been a complete bust.

App is easy to use except blocking off availability. I do have trouble with that. I’ve had several offers, and the family that I’m currently with full time was set up through the app.

Care.com used to be a great site on the caregiving aspect. When I first joined, I found plenty of jobs and was able to talk with potential employers through the app. Over the last couple months, pop-ups and banners about becoming a premium member for a cost kept coming up every single time I used the app, even blocking some information I wanted to click on but couldn’t due to the banner being in the way. Even with that, I continued to apply for jobs and chose to keep my member status without the premium upgrade since I couldn’t afford another monthly bill anyway. After a period of time went by and I submitted many applications, I found it upsetting that I wasn’t getting a single response from anyone, especially given my professional experiences and college degree. There was one particular job that I had applied for that I just *knew* was the perfect job for me. After a week, I decided to see if I could message the potential employer to see if the position had already been filled. Then is where I learned that - even though I had been a member for years - my applications that I sent were basically useless. The one and only way now to even get a message from someone or to send a message to someone, you have no choice but to pay the monthly premium - otherwise, you can’t get hired. There is absolutely no point in joining the site or applying for a job unless you’re willing to give your money away to a corporation who used to allow people to use their platform for free. Even if you pay for the “premium” services, it barely offers anything different than another care site or job site doesn’t already offer. Since discovering this, I have moved on to other sites that do the exact same thing as care.com does, but still offer their services free of charge. I have found great success in doing this and am happier than I have ever been with care.com. Think of it like this - you can join indeed.com, LinkedIn, or other job search websites for free. From there, you can apply, contact, and more - potential employers and be offered an interview and/or job, all without paying a fee. Care.com is the exact same type of platform as they are, only catering to a specific need. At the end of the day, why would you pay a premium to a third-party service to potentially find a job when you can put that money toward bills, groceries, or other life necessities or desires? I’m not going to pay someone to interview me and/or hire me; that is completely redundant. Care.com is out, and other similar sites are there to do the exact same thing for you, all free of charge for their users.

When I go to the settings and apply “jobs that do not require transportation”, the jobs that come up still require transport. Also, if I’m looking at the list of postings it will say X miles away. When I click on the posting the miles will update to usually much further than what I have selected in settings. I just saw a job 2 miles away, clicked it and it said 13 miles. That’s a big difference. Why even have these settings and options if they don’t work?

I love this app. I have been paying the monthly fee for several months and it’s definitely worth it. However, I have struggled to edit my profile and I can’t seem to get anything to go through to the help desk. I am unable to update my profile because I haven’t entered my education level. I can not find where to do that. The only other downside is that people are able to create “jobs” and post them without paying the monthly fee to see messages. This makes it look like there are lots of opportunities, however, most of my responses to messages go unread. But, this app has given me the opportunity to meet with people and I now have reoccurring jobs because of it. Thanks!!
