  • Day 10

Wow. Yes! I’ve been “aiming”’for such a long time. I’ve been meditating on and off since 1998 and this app is teaching me more than any class, retreat (which are awesome), or book. Super excellent; I cannot believe Sam just named something I’ve been struggling with for 20 years! Boom!!! 💗☮️
  • Well put together, good instruction, and really does improve my life

This app is exactly what it advertises, and does the job well. Sam’s voice is well suited for this sort of thing, and he breaks down concepts to a good level for understanding. The courses are almost better than the meditation practice at times, and it’s a great addition to an already great product. The practice itself is short enough to fit in to any daily routine, and I do believe you’ll find that it helps in everyday life. My first time through, I never made it past lesson ten, but I can see a legitimate difference in my day to day experiences just from that. Very much looking forward to “just starting again” as Sam says in many lessons. No berating yourself, no being upset about “failing”, just starting over. Beautiful work here, and a true benefit to you if you work at it.
  • Transformational!!!

To anyone in the fence about whether this meditation app is worth it or not, I say it’s THE BEST one out there. The quality of my life since beginning the guided meditations led by Sam Harris are so profound it has dramatically improved my ability to life a mindful life. Additionally, Mr. Harris is truly a philanthropist in his passion to give this gift to the world so I urge anyone on the fence to take the leap and purchase the app and begin using it immediately. This app is as valuable as any course on meditation, possibly even better!!!
  • Helped me grow my practice.

    By GrouchyTowhead
I’ve enjoyed this app. Harris’ approach has helped me evolve my practice. The app is well worth the price and time investment especially if you have experience with meditation. I think beginning meditators might be better served by other apps that spend less time inquiring about consciousness and more on the fundamentals of meditation and a range of techniques. Lastly, the timer is not very useful if you use the interval feature. There is no distinct signal that the meditation is over so if you go deep during your practice you may go long (or start wondering if you missed the end).
  • Best meditation app I have tried

    By whchdja
I have tried many meditation apps and recorded exercises. Sam Harris has a way of describing the exercise in a way that really clicks with me so I understand the intent, goal, and feeling of the exercises. The app is simple and clean to use. Many of the apps out there are cluttered and messy with tons of windows and options that make it confusing what to do and where to go. It’s simply my favorite app in the meditation/mindfulness space.
  • An authority on meditation

Sam Harris uses effective techniques right out of the world’s great wisdom traditions and has contributed an immense value to humanity by creating this resource that can be in the hands of so many people.
  • Sam's the man!

    By Bikemayer
I found out about Sam Harris through a podcast where someone talked about his books and podcast. I checked him out and really connected to his philosophy and experience with psychedelics. I haven't tried any other meditation apps but I put a lot of trust in Sam's content so I just dived in and have had a profoundly good experience.
  • The masters class version of meditation apps

    By MileHighDevs
No one app can do everything, and no two users are alike. Some simple want to listen to a calming voice. Some want ultra convenience or lots of reminders. In my opinion, what separates Waking Up from the rest is its rigor and commitment to teaching you the mechanics, philosophy, and doctrinal foundation of insight mediation. “Guided” mediations exist on a spectrum. Some will merely hold your hand and walk you through it. But Waking Up focuses on teaching you how to do it. One nitnoid developer issue related to Apple Watch: if you’re in a meditation and tap the remote (that red-orange button that coexists with the notifications, cellular, locked, and sleeping icons), instead of pulling up the play/pause functions, it launches the Waking Up timer for self-guided mediations.
  • Amazing!

Amazing app! I’ve tried so many times to get into meditation, all unsuccessfully, until discovering this app. I now meditate twice daily and have seen noticeable positive changes in how I react to life on a daily basis. Sam has put together a thoughtful course to get a newcomer ingrained in meditation. I suggest doing the 50 sessions of the intro course before experiencing the other meditations he provides on the app. Thanks for your hard work on this Sam!
  • Loving this app

It’s just really helpful getting you set up on learning meditation. I do not like that you have to pay for a subscription for all the other lesson but the ones that are free are very nice
