Shaka Guides were recommended to us from another couple and it’s the absolute best investment. The narrator shares incredible history about the island and takes you on a WELL guided tour! The apps navigation worked flawlessly and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing the island at our pace! If you’re renting a car and planning on seeing the island you must have the Shaka Guide with you!!

Threw out my custom itinerary in ths first 20 minutes of this app tour guide app. Turn by turn directions and narration made our Hawaiian vacation on the Big Island and Oahu a dream vacation come true. We were amazed at how fun, informative and cost effective this app turned out to be. Thank you Shaka Guide!
  • Great plan!

Highly recommend this app! We did the long circle tour today. We started a little later than we should have, around 10:30, we would suggest to start at 8:30 or 9:00. We ran into a closed road so we had find our way around-keep in mind this app follows the tour, if you get off the path you are on your own. Loved the legends and suggestions! Looking forward to doing the shorter tour later this week. Aloha!

Mostly loved it. Would be helpful Not to have silence in between spots we thought we lost the tour. Also it should remember where you started from so it could continue around to the places you didn’t go to. For instance we started at turtle bay but the guide stopped at Waikiki Which we hadn’t seen and we ended up getting lost and I couldn’t get the tour to pick up from that spot. Other than that it was great
  • Excellent driving tour app

We used on several islands and were extremely satisfied. We enjoyed the many stories our guide offered and the beautiful Hawaiian music also. Much better than expensive $$$ tours people can make. Rent a car and take the same route and stop at the sites you want to see and go at your own pace.

My husband and I wanted to do a driving tour of Oahu with his mother, who has limited mobility and can’t walk more than a few hundred yards at a time. Wanting to go on our own schedule vs. doing a guided tour, but still have an engaging experience, I googled some audio tour options and found Shaka Guide. I figured if it didn’t work out, we were only out $15.... It was the best $15 we spent on this trip! The app works by playing recorded bits of information that are triggered when you cross specific points on the road, recognized with GPS tracking. My husband started out skeptical, but within the first 20 minutes, any time the voice stopped between prompts he and MIL were asking “Where’s Casey?” (the guide voice reminded us of Casey Kasem). We started in Waikiki and combined [most of] the South and Circle tours into one day of driving. It could easily be two full days with all the stops and hikes, but even the shortened trip was fantastic. The app took us through the entire route with parking suggestions, pointing out each place and telling stories the whole time. Some of our favorites were places we never would’ve found on our own. We could’ve done a similar trip with a bunch of research and planning, but it wouldn’t have been as enjoyable. Shaka Guide made everything so easy - just get in the car and go. The next day, my husband and I were on our own near Historic Honolulu and decided to try the Shaka walking tour, totally impromptu. It was only $1.99 and so much better than walking around reading plaques. The new shared-audio bluetooth for iPhones would’ve made it even better... we shared corded headphones because they were all I had in my bag. If you’re into learning and discovering new places without a bunch of hassle, guidebooks, or being limited to someone else’s timetable, I can’t recommend these guides enough! Next time we’re on Maui or Kauai we’ll be downloading more Shaka Guides for sure.
