  • Very well done

Day One can collect so much interesting data about my day to augment entries, the sync is flawless so far, and encryption is much appreciated. My only complaint is that Premium is a little pricey.
  • Value Proposition

I have very few subscriptions since I usually like to outright buy products or programs. However, I settled in this one as one of the few. I’ve used this app for years and it truly has gotten better over time. As a programmer also I appreciate how much effort goes into optimization of a set of code. Especially with the edition of audio and video entries, plus all the background data that’s collected as part of our journal entries, I feel it’s a good value proposition. I only hope soon that they will allow this same thing on my pc or via the website where I spend most of work day. Then I could actually use good voice dictation software, like Dragon Naturally Speaking. Siri, while more or less ok, is not the best when writing journal entries. At any rate, that’s a side topic. Runs fine on an older iPad Air 2 and iPhone 7, a little bit of lag with a large library like mine, but I’m sure on the newer apple products it runs zippier. Recommend to anyone wanting a robust way to document their life. My favorite feature is the journal entry on map feature. One way this journal can improve is if they showed not only the journal entries on the map, but gave us the option to toggle having our pictures on the same map. And maybe letting us buy a print out of the map of all the locations where we made journal entries.
  • Best app ever

I LOVE this app. I think everyone should own it. I've posted this sentiment on different social media platforms. I'm surprised that I'm only being asked to write this review now. I been using the app for over a year now.

    I love this app !
  • Almost there.

As an accomplished touch typist, I’m much better and faster at markdown than I am at the point and click interface Day One has switched to. The lack of efficient keyboard-based formatting is Day One moving away from one of the reasons I bought it.
  • Auto renew is robbery of money and syncing is messy

    By illta
I had premium membership in one account two devices (two Apple ID). I used ID1 to buy premium membership for a year, decided I don’t need it anymore, canceled the renewal of annual membership. But then the app charged my other ID (another credit card) for the renewal since I didn’t cancel membership in that apple store#2. The charge happened without letting me know nor giving me option to cancel! It was robbery of money. I’ve used day one since version 1 and I have to say the syncing across devices/versions/options of using Dayone/iCloud was a mess. Almost lost my journals but luckily got to my old iPhone to retrieve it. I just miss the simplicity of the old version BTW the app fee I paid for version one was wasted with all these new ways of charging right?
  • I journaled my pregnancy...

And Yesterday I tried to update my iPhone and had a problem and it erased everything. I thought signing in ON THE SAME PHONE would have my entries pop up. No. Everything is gone except for my name. This is an incredible blow plus all my pictures being lost. Do not recommend.

Journaling, and the ease this app gives to the practice, has improved my life through exploring and capturing my thoughts, providing a history of events and ease in searching for milestones. Love it!
  • Ugh

    By KEberline
I’ve been trying for three days to have my journal printed into a book, and it’s not working. It just says “Creating order...” and spins and spins and spins. Ugh. Help!
  • Being patient

I really like the functionality of this app but so far it's been crashing on me. I'm not sure what's going on but because I like it I will be patient.
